Insurance:
When we arrange an insurance contract on your behalf, we reserve the right to charge you a fee. We do not, however, normally charge a fee as we receive commission from the product providers. If you subsequently cease to pay premiums on that insurance policy (this could be for a period of up to four years), we are obliged to return the commissions received by us to the product provider. The amount we have to return reduces pro-rata over time. The maximum amount of the fee you will have to pay Xchange Mortgages Ltd will be no more than the amount of commission paid back to the product provider, plus a handling and administration fee of £75. This fee will not apply where you exercise your statutory rights to cancel the policy in accordance with the cancellation notice issued to you by the product provider.
Our fee will only become payable if the plan is cancelled, or lapses due to you failing to pay premiums into the plan, within 48 months of the commencement date. In this case, the fee payable will be as follows assuming commission is £240: £240 / 48 = £5 for each month prior to the fourth plan anniversary, in which payments are not made plus a £75 administration charge.
For example, if you stopped premiums after 22 months, the fee amount payable by you to Xchange Mortgages Ltd at that time would be calculated as follows:
Number of months remaining until the end of the 4th anniversary from policy commencement is 26. Fee payable by you to Xchange Mortgages Ltd = £5 x 26 = £130 + £75 administration charge.
