Mortgage Business Expo - November 2010

The annual Mortgage Business Expo was held from the 17th - 18th November 2010 at the Olympia Exhibition Centre, London. The MyLocalAdviser team were on hand throughout the two day event to unveil the revamped version of our free website, which helps members of the public to find financial advisers in their local area.

Although this year’s Expo was smaller than in previous years – largely because of the economic downturn - it was still extremely popular, with over 85 of the top service providers represented at the event. Over 1900 financial intermediaries attended throughout the whole event. We are particularly pleased to report that a significant proportion of those attending were already registered with MyLocalAdviser and they reported back to us that they were enjoying the benefits associated with the service. Many of those who weren’t registered were so impressed with the updates that they applied to register immediately. During the course of the expo itself and the follow up email campaign we have gathered over 165 new advisers into the database.

We also had an overwhelming amount of interest expressed in the further planned updates for the service, which includes an enhanced listing section for advisers. This improved functionality will allow members of the public to search for advisers using a host of additional parameters, including factors such as the adviser’s professional credentials and previous experience. This will ensure more relevant results from the ever-expanding database of advisers on the system. From an aesthetic perspective, we are also updating the look and the feel of the website to make it more user-friendly, based on feedback from our existing user-base.

We also launched a competition to win an IPad - any financial intermediary that registered with MyLocalAdviser during the expo - or the follow up email campaign - was entered into the draw that was held on the 29th November. We’re delighted to announce that Anthony Reygate of Clarkson Hill Group plc is the lucky winner, with the iPad arriving just in time for Christmas!
